With sustainable development in mind, AM-TECH replaced and restructured the layout of approximately 38,000 fluorescent fixtures with LED lamps while disposing of all replaced lamps and ballasts in an environmentally controlled area to reduce waste pollution and limit the university’s carbon emissions for a greener future.
A Step to a Greener and Safer Campus
AM-TECH undertook the re-lamping of all T8 lamps on campus to LED. The LED upgrade improved the safety by brightening dangerous areas such as walkways and parking lots. The new LEDs also made the campus more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, building a campus better prepared to meet the needs of its students and the future. This project saw 38,000 lamps upgraded across 85 buildings including classes, tunnels, common areas, labs and more. This project necessitated a mix of day and night work. AM-TECH replaced all non-working or non-complaint ballasts, replaced all broken or damaged lamp sockets and lenses, and returned all fluorescent lamps and ballasts for environmentally controlled disposal.
The University of Ottawa issued a contract directly with AM-TECH for this project due to AM-TECH’s consistent work on other projects on campus.
