AM-TECH’s complete design build and fit up for the Algonquin College Student Commons Building attained LEED Gold Certification for a 127,000 square foot building, providing students with a state-of-the-art learning centre through sustainable practices.
Algonquin College Student Learning Centre
The Algonquin College Student Learning Centre is located in the heart of the nation’s capital and offers a flexible learning environment that emphasizes digital teaching tools, networking and collaboration for its occupants, requiring flexible floorplans and moveable walls allow for customized training sessions for small to large-sized groups (up to 100 participants). To accommodate the myriad of services provided, the commissioning of the new state-of-the-art learning centre required electrical work in many different learning environments such as offices, classrooms, study areas, and public lounges. AM-TECH completed an interior fit-up that consisted of flexible lighting, fire alarm systems, branch wiring, and distribution of the new atrium in an occupied building. Furthermore, as the existing floor power systems were being modified during working hours, AM-TECH worked diligently to coordinate its work with multiple tenants’ schedules such that their workflow would not be interrupted by construction in their workspaces.
