At the Ottawa Hospital, AM-TECH efficiently replaced a complete fire alarm system in an occupied clinical facility while conforming to strict CSA Z317.13 infection control protocols. The installation of the new fire alarm system, including door security connections and nurse call systems, was phased such that the new devices were commissioned as the old devices were uninstalled to ensure that the hospital’s fire alarm system did not have any vulnerabilities during construction. AM-TECH’s scheduling and manpower management prowess resulted in the fire alarm upgrades being 3 months ahead of schedule, continuing this work ethic into the COVID-19 crisis as an essential service due to our stringent infection control methods.
